With the sketchbook turned to the right is one of several sketches in the book of figures in fancy costumes (see folio 57; D25745 for references). This one belongs to a group of three sketches of male figures in period costume (see also folios 55 verso and 56; D25742, D25743). Here two men, one standing behind the other, wear long robes and caps. The sketch of a figure in a robe and headdress on folio 26 (D25688) may be related to these figures.
