This view from the south-east of Caerlaverock Castle looks inside the castle through the ruined south-east tower and missing southern curtain wall. Turner has taken care to include all the windows, doorways and chimneys in this methodical study, which forms a group of sketches that record his clockwise circumnavigation of the structure (see folio 49 verso; D25858).
Above the sketch are two small detail studies of windows.
