Drawn with the sketchbook inverted. Two alternatives are shown for a roof with curved or sloped edges and two or three glazed lights, in one example given as octagonal. Turner also shows the construction of the joists. Related diagrams showing the construction and glazing are on the verso (D07047; Turner Bequest CV 44a). These plans are to be associated with Turner’s plans for his own gallery, along with other drawings and diagrams in the sketchbook; see Introduction for Turner’s new gallery behind his house in Queen Anne Street West, opened in 1822.
