Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Two inscriptions on this page – ‘L Lo’ and ‘Lo’ – indicate that the two sketches at the top of the page and the sketch at the left, drawn with the book turned to the right, are either of Loch Lomond or of Loch Long. Of the two the head of Loch Lomond is probably the closest match, as in folio 86 verso (D26606).
At the right of the sketch with the book turned to the left is a distant view of Dumbarton Rock as seen from the River Clyde to the south. For further sketches of the rock see folio 71 verso (D26577).
