Drawn with the sketchbook turned to the right, David Wallace-Hadrill and Janet Carolan have suggested that this sketch may, along with a sketch across folios 32 verso–33 (D27023–D27024), represent the Pass of Inverfarigaig rather than the Falls of Foyers which are depicted in neighbouring sketches in the sketchbook.1 However, while this sketch has some compositional similarities to folios 32 verso–33, it is much closer to the sketch on folio 26 (D27012), especially with the slender tree at the centre which obscures the view of part of the waterfall. This has been identified as a view of Foyers Lower Fall from the east. The hill at the right is therefore Creag Bhreac, rather than one side of the pass. The sketch on the reverse of this page (folio 24; D27008) shows the same view.
