Drawn with the sketchbook inverted. See note to folio 49 verso (D07928) and Introduction to the sketchbook for the suggestion that its shooting subjects might have been drawn on the moors around Farnley Hall. This figure has some resemblance to the man, presumed to be Walter Fawkes, seated in the foreground of Turner’s watercolour Shooting Party on the Moors 12 August [1816] (private collection).1
