This is one of a series of very similar views of St Mary’s Loch in Selkirkshire: folios 24–28 (D26140–D26148). From the road to the north of the loch near St Mary’s Churchyard we look south down the length of the loch, with Cappercleuch and the outflow of the Megget Water at the right. Having made this sketch, Turner flipped over the page and drew an almost identical one on folio 27 (D26146).
See folio 24 (D2640) for further information.
