Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
David Wallace-Hadrill and Janet Carolan have identified this sketch as the Brig O’ Turk near the village of the same name, located to the east of Loch Achray in the Trossachs, with the peak of Ben A’an at the right.1 Sketches on folios 39 and 39 verso (D26680, D26676; CCLXXII 7a, 7) were made from the road between Loch Achray and Aberfoyle, indicating Turner’s route between the two sites during his exploration of the Trossachs in 1834.
