The scene is unidentified but may be one of Turner’s haunts on the Thames west of London. There appears to be a barge on the right and at least one figure on the river bank. The composition continues opposite, with more trees extending half way across folio 29 verso (D07401).
Technical notes:
The outer edge of the present sheet stops noticeably short of others in the sketchbook (the regular width being 115 mm).
