Finberg’s qualified identification is correct, as the view is across the marshland bordering the harbour at Christchurch, south-east of the priory. There is a similar sketch on folio 34 recto (D08425) and an elaborate drawing of the church from the north, possibly made on the same occasion, in the Vale of Heathfield sketchbook (Tate D10310; Turner Bequest CXXXVII 67).
