A boat sails past St Mawes Castle on the right, seen from off Castle Point, west of the harbour, presumably from a boat or possibly from Carrithnack Point. The view to the left is northwards up Carrick Roads towards the Falmouth side, with a large three-masted vessel at anchor in the distance.
There is a detailed study of the castle on folio 148 verso (D08643; CXXIII 145a). For other views in and around Falmouth see under folio 7 verso (D08375).
