The view is south-east from the coast at or near Minehead (see under folio 4 recto; D08368), with the Conygar Tower on its hill above Dunster silhouetted towards the right and the coast of Blue Anchor Bay beyond. The prospect from Minehead Harbour is now dominated by the Butlins holiday camp along the opposite shore. There is what appears to be a similar view on folio 156 recto (D08654; CXXIII 153).
The present drawing is not recorded in Finberg’s Turner Bequest Inventory.1 For other views of Dunster, see under folio 19 verso (D08398).
