Looking north-east across Ilfracombe’s harbour, St Nicholas’s Chapel and Lantern Hill are seen on the left, the cliffs of Hillsborough on the right. This is the last of four similar successive views, discussed under folio 216 verso (D08753; Turner Bequest CXXIII 213a), and the only one to be inscribed by Turner.
