Turner looks north-west to Penryn and west to its quay from across the Penryn River at Flushing. The view remains recognisable from beside the war memorial off Trefusis Road or the Little Falmouth boatyard off St Peter’s Road further up the river. There is another view from Flushing on folio 25 verso (D08901; CXXV 24a), under which other local subjects are mentioned.
Technical notes:
There is some dark smudging and offsetting from a straight edge, affecting the centre left of the drawing.
