This sketch represents part of a view of Florence continued from folio 62 verso (D16590). Turner’s viewpoint appears to be a location on the Monte alle Croci hill near the Church of San Salvatore al Monte, not as has been previously suggested San Miniato,1 or Santa Margherita a Montici,2 both of which are located too far south.
