After Civita Castellana, Turner’s route to Rome left the Via Flaminia and led him south-west to Nepi, a town approximately twenty-three miles north of the Eternal City. This sketch shows the road on the north side of Nepi (present-day Via 13 Settembre), leading up from the eighteenth-century aqueduct to enter the city near the Palazzo Comunale.
