This one of a sequence of mostly unidentified landscape sketches running from folio 27 verso (D12355) to the present page, with a further two on folio 50 recto (D12384) and folios 51 verso–52 recto (D12386, D12387). As discussed in the entry for folio 27 verso, they are likely to show scenes on the moors and hills around Bowes, south-west of Barnard Castle.
There is a narrow bridge in the right foreground with what may be foliage beyond, and another bridge lightly indicated on the left. Further up the valley, below two distant peaks, is a small building. Although Finberg brackets this page with folio 32 verso opposite (D12365), the latter is actually blank, save for a very slight, probably accidental, pencil stroke well away from the present drawing.
