This group of trees is a continuation of the view of Raby Castle from the north-east on folio 23 recto opposite (D12289; Turner Bequest CLVI 17). At the far left there are slight squiggles, possibly inscribed ‘Rd’, which may be foliage continued from folio 23 verso (D40726), where slight indications of foliage may themselves be continued from the view of the castle on folio 25 verso (D12283; CLVI 14).
As now bound and foliated, sketches of the castle and its surroundings fill most of the second half of the sketchbook, from folio 17 recto (D12298; CLVI 22a) to folio 32 recto (D12309; CLVI 28).
