This sketch depicts a view of the Via Pinciana, the road which runs in between the gardens of the Villa Borghese and the Aurelian walls. The two towers represent the Porta Pinciana, a gate near the south-eastern perimeter of the Borghese Gardens (see also folios 42 verso and 43, D16229–30; Turner Bequest 41a and 42).
