The dog is drawn inverted relative to the architecture; compare the drawing on folio 17 recto (D00031). The architectural notes seem to relate to the façades of Radley Hall, of which Turner produced two highly finished watercolour views (Tate D00048, D00049; Turner Bequest III C, D); see folios 9 recto and 14 recto (D00021, D00028). This sheet bears offsets from the marbled pages of the inside back cover (D40742), and was therefore presumably the final leaf of the book in its original form.
