This is the basis for a watercolour executed for Viscount Malden (Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester),1 mentioned on the list of ‘Order’d Drawings’ near the beginning of this sketchbook (D40557) as ‘Chaple’. See folios 48 recto, 49 recto, 50 recto and 52 recto (D00603, D00604, D00605, D00607; Turner Bequest XXVI 49, 50, 51, 53) for further drawings made at Hampton Court.
