This page contains three sketches:
i. (main sketch, above) A distant view of Lausanne from the west, ‘Vins’ (vines) in the foreground.
ii. (middle, inverted in relation to the main sketch) A villa at Lausanne (the same as sketched on an earlier page of the sketchbook (D29125; Turner Bequest CCXCIII 47a), with a ‘Walk’ noted towards the centre and vineyards (‘vins’) immediately to the right, and ‘Col[umns]’ on the building to the right. The left section of a three-part panorama, numbered ‘1’ on the hills top right, and continued above to the right in (iii).
iii. (squeezed in along the edge of the sheet) The right section(s) of a panorama of the hills towards the east end of Lake Geneva as seen from Lausanne, continuing (ii) to the right, possibly in two separate sketches, the first to the right numbered ‘2’, and the second to the left numbered ‘3’, inscribed ‘End of Lake Geneva’ and noting the distant profile of Mont ‘Blanc’.
