Drawn at the top of this page are two figures in tailcoats and top hats looking through a telescope mounted on a tripod. A seated woman wearing a Normandy hat is drawn at the bottom of the page, overlapped by a sketch of the oak chest at Farnley Hall which is depicted several times in this sketchbook; see folio 6 (Tate D18533; Turner Bequest CCXI 6).
