This drawing is inverted in relation to the main numbered sequence of subjects in the sketchbook, indicating that Turner restarted the book from the back cover. The marks are hasty and dashed in such a manner as to suggest that it might have been made from a moving vehicle. The view recorded appears to be of rolling (high?) ground towards the coast with a glimpse of the sea in the distance right, isolated farms in the foreground and middle distance, together with a detail above right representing the continuation of one of the left foreground corner. The sketch gives the suggestion of recording a first or last glimpse of the sea, but appears hard to reconcile with the route of road from Scarborough to Malton.
