A distant horizon of hills or cliffs is indicated across the middle of the page, but it is too slight to be readily identifiable. At the top right, framed by pencil lines, is a small study of a castellated tower with a small turret, probably that of a church, beyond a house or group of buildings and trees. The location is presently unidentified, but probably in north Devon from its context in the sketchbook.
Technical notes:
There is some staining to the right-hand edge of the leaf.
