This page comprises three drawings, with a broad view of a valley with a bridge and distant hills running across the lower half, possibly with Launceston in the far distance on the right, making the setting the Tamar Valley. Above are two closer views of Launceston, with the castle on its steep mound flanked to the left in each case by the tower of St Mary Magdalene’s Church. This juxtaposition is to be seen on the approach to the town from the north-east. In the sketch at the top right is a bridge in the foreground, which appears to be Nether Bridge over the River Tamar on the Holsworthy Road, now by-passed by a wider modern bridge to its north-west.
