This study of hulks (decommissioned, dismasted warships) follows on from topographical sketches in the Hamoaze and lower reaches of the River Tamar north-west of Plymouth Sound beginning on folio 3 recto (D09671). Here the view appears to be from the north side of the St Germans or Lynher River, looking west, upstream from its confluence with the Tamar (forming the Hamoaze). For other views on and around the St Germans/Lynher, see under folio 27 verso (D09700).
