As noted in this sketchbook’s Introduction, local resident Mr Charles Nodder has used his knowledge of the area around Trematon Castle to write a privately circulated article discussing the relevant drawings in this sketchbook, after inspecting and discussing them with the present author,1 who is very grateful for his comments: he identifies this view as ‘up the Lynher River from Jupiter Point below Antony House. The hills beyond Shillingham Manor on the right [north of the river] are very recognisable as the scene is virtually unchanged today’.2
There is a silhouetted figure standing (and possibly another seated) on the shore at the bottom left. For other views on and around the St Germans or Lynher River, see under folio 27 verso (D09700).
