Finberg bracketed this page with folio 34 recto opposite (D13802) as if to imply the two were continuous, but they are separate though similar studies. The present one was made with the page inverted relative to the foliation. In addition to two brief notes towards the top of the sketch, a series of strokes at the centre suggest the word ‘Cold’, although such a reading may be fortuitous. There is prominent pencil offsetting from the opposite page (D13802).
