The lack of obvious landmarks makes the view, made with the page turned horizontally, difficult to place, but it is presumably within a reasonable radius from the Plymouth area. The subjects as far as folio 127 recto (D09358) are all identified or presumed sites within a few miles, suggesting a series of fairly short excursions.
Turner’s inscription probably indicates his observing activities associated with harvesting, although it is unclear whether any of the marks in the foreground indicate figures actually gleaning.
