Drawn with the page turned vertically, there are two main views of the castle across the top and middle of the page, with the Hastings Tower on the left and the kitchen block at the centre beyond the east window of the chapel. The turret on the right does not survive; beyond is the square tower of St Helen’s Church. Turner’s viewpoint is now on school grounds east of the castle, and obscured by trees. There is a further slight study of buildings and trees immediately below.
