Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, at the top left is a view of the west end and tower of Ashby-de-la-Zouch’s St Helen’s Church, now obscured by trees. At the centre right, seen from nearby, is the castle’s ruined kitchen block seen from the north-west; there is a continuation of this view at the bottom left, beyond a jagged structure which does not survive, towards a windmill on the skyline. There are other details to the left of centre; the turret shown there does not survive.
For other views of Ashby, see under folio 21 verso (D22012; CCXXXVIII 21).
