Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, this is a half-page continuation from the drawing on folio 63 verso (D22094; Turner Bequest CCXXXVIII 61a), a general prospect of Dudley from the south-east. Here the road east of Dudley Castle runs north to Tipton in the distance. Modern developments make the viewpoint difficult to establish, but similar views are possible from around Watsons Green Road and Wolverton Road on Kates Hill, overlooking Dudley’s Southern Bypass.
For other views of Dudley see under folio 23 recto (D22016).
