With the page turned vertically, Turner has made three sketches separated by horizontal pencil lines. At the top is a view of Haddon Hall from the north-west (the ‘North Front’), with the bridge over the River Wye in the foreground, while across the middle is a similar view from a little closer. At the bottom is a sketch of a wooded valley, possibly with the same bridge on the left, apparently labelled ‘Rd to Bak’, signifying the main road running alongside the west bank of the river to Bakewell, about two miles to the north-west, although given the position of the bridge the view may be towards the south-east, in the direction of Matlock. For other views of the hall, see under folio 24 recto (D22192).
The strokes at the bottom left are slight continuations of the related sketch on folio 25 verso opposite (D22195).
