This is one of various watercolour and pencil landscape studies towards the end of this sketchbook, as set out in the Introduction. Here a series of six thumbnail pencil compositions are arranged in two columns and separated or framed by straight lines. What seem to be hills, trees, roads and perhaps masts are indicated here and there, as well as disks which may be the sun or moon.
Technical notes:
There is a stray stoke of dark watercolour towards the bottom left, associated with loose colour washes on folio 48 verso opposite (D28858).
