Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, the composition continues across folio 41 recto opposite (D01200; Turner Bequest XXXVII 83). A.J. Finberg suggested that this might be a view at Ramsgate,1 but as Turner scholar Eric Shanes has noted,2 this is a view of the pier at Margate with Hooper’s Mill in the distance.
