This rough and swiftly rendered sketch depicts the fortified plateaux of the Rham and Bock from a hillside vantage point located to the east of the Rham. A gouache, pen and ink and watercolour drawing of Luxembourg from the East (Shrewsbury School) is of a similar composition to the present sketch.1
