This sketch shows the ruin of a tower atop a hill overlooking a town in the distance to the right. It is likely, given the appearance of the spires and domed building shown here, that Turner recorded the same landmarks but from a different perspective on Tate D28633; Turner Bequest CCXCI 49a.
