Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, the two sailing ships seen in isolation here were perhaps observed in the Pool of London, down-river of Old London Bridge on the Thames. Sketches on adjacent pages relate to the foundation stone ceremony for the bridge’s replacement on 15 June 1825.
