J.M.W. Turner: Sketchbooks, Drawings and Watercolours

With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled much of this page with small sketches of the ruined abbey at Jumièges situated on the long bend of the Seine between la Mailleraye and Duclair. The tall towers of the shattered building are cursorily described in two passages towards the top right-hand corner of the page. The rest of the page is given over to outline descriptions of the high hills that slope steeply down to the river at that point.
