Turner made five studies at Aberystwyth in this book: see also folios 24 verso–25 recto, 43 verso–44 recto, 58 verso–59 recto and 67 verso–68 recto (D01500–D01501, D01533–D01534, D01558–D01559, D01560–D01561; Turner Bequest XL 22a–23, 41a–42, 56a–57, 67a–68).
He probably made the present note, inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, from the spot at which he drew the castle on D01560–D01561.
