Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, this rapid sketch supplies few clues as to the identity or location of the subject. The building may be a chapel, but could as easily be a cottage or small house. A wide and rutted road appears to ascend the hill towards it. The drawing is continued on folio 78 recto opposite (D01590; Turner Bequest XL 76).
