This slight sketch shows the Belgian city of Liège; the onion dome of the Church of Saint-André and tower of the Collegiate Church of Sainte-Croix can be seen close to the riverbank. Beyond, at the top of the Mont Saint-Martin, stands Saint-Laurent barracks and military hospital and to its left, the church of Saint-Martin. See Tate D20084; Turner Bequest CCXVII 1 for another view of the barracks taken by Turner in 1824.
