Drawn with the sketchbook turned upside down, Turner pictures a range of views of Namur using swift and summary handling. The two uppermost sketches show the point at which the Meuse and Sambre Rivers meet, overlooked by the citadel and with the district of Jambes and the Pont de Jambes to the left. The central and two lowermost sketches are taken from a vantage point in Jambes itself and thus show the opposite perspective to the upper drawings. The views look towards the confluence and feature the citadel of Namur at left and the Pont de Jambes at the foot of the ridge.
