Rendered in fine agile line, this sketch shows a plateau and river valley with a town at its base. In the top left corner is a small detail of a street in a town with an arched gateway. Curators Gérard Thill, Jean-Claude Muller and Jean Luc Koltz have suggested that this may be a distant view of Luxembourg.1
