This is a continuation from the folio opposite of a sky study which Turner took as he approached Ostend on 7 September 1824 (see Tate D19898; Turner Bequest CCXVI 173a). There are a few dashed-off notes on the tone and colours of light: ‘blue’ and ‘yellow shade’, ‘dark sky’ and ‘light dun yellow’.
