In 1909 Finberg noted that Tate D01877 (Turner Bequest XLIV A), a watercolour of Pembroke Castle, was ‘apparently mounted by the artist, and margin of dark red and grey prepared by him. The present mount covers up Turner’s margin and from a quarter to half an inch of the drawing on different sides.’1 The sheet catalogued here, Turner’s mount, has since been detached.
