The drawing is continued from folio 114 verso opposite (D03133; Turner Bequest LVI 112a). The subject was identified by Finberg as the Black Wood of Rannoch.1 He believed that Turner travelled west along the River Tummel as far as Loch Rannoch, but it seems unlikely that he visited the southern shore of the loch, and so would have had to draw the Black Wood from across the water. Finberg conjectured that he then travelled north and east through Glen Errochty to Blair Atholl.
