The subject is continued on folio 150 recto opposite (D03202; Turner Bequest LVI 148). Like the sketch on folios 148 verso–149 recto (D03199–D03200; Turner Bequest LVI 146a–147), this drawing was used in the development of the large colour study, Tate D08281 (Turner Bequest CXXI Y), which was probably executed with a large watercolour of the castle in mind. Finberg’s identification of the structure as the Bridge of Allan1 was corrected by Henry Crawford.2
