Here Turner has rendered a view of the lighthouse at Lowestoft on the Suffolk North Sea coast (see Tate D18335; Turner Bequest CCIX 35a). The lighthouse, which dates back to 1676, is shown close to the edge of the cliffs overlooking the Denes.
